Bryan
Vor einigen Tagen sah ich einen Film von Foxwood Films. Die Produktion heißt schlicht: „Bryan and Kaia“. Der Film ist einfach nur großartig und völlig stimmig, er transportiert so viel Freude! Man kann den beiden Haupdarstellern ansehen, wie viel Spaß sie an der gemeinsamen Unternehmung haben. Ich bin so begeistert, dass ich nicht einfach den Film Online stellen wollte. Ich wollte mehr wissen: Wer steckt hinter diesem Video, was für ein tollkühner Hund begleitet sein rasantes Herrchen so begeistert… So schrieb ich Foxwood Films an und bereits wenige Stunden später hatte ich eine Nachricht von Jonathan Kang, dem Macher des Videos. Er gab mir auf alle meine Fragen bereitwillig Antworten!

Das Interview mit Jonathan Kang von Foxwood Films
André: Hallo Jonathan, was für ein wundervoller Film
Jonathan: Hi André, freut mich, dass Dir unser Film gefällt.
André: Wo habt ihr den Film gedreht?
Jonathan: Wir haben den Film im Bert Flynn Park gedreht in Port Moody, B.C. Canada
André: Der Hund ist eine Rakete! Musste Kaia lernen vorweg/ nebenher zu laufen oder konnte sie es von Anfang an?
Jonathan: Kaia musste es lernen, aber bereits nach einigen Abfahrten hatte sie den Dreh raus und war nicht mehr zu bremsen, wie auf dem Video gut zu sehen ist. Ihre Traktion ist deutlich besser als die von Bryan.
André: Bryan ist gut unterwegs, wie lange fährt er schon Montain Bike?
Jonathan: Bryan startete vor rund sieben Jahren mit dem biken und fährt jetzt für Kinetik Cycles.
André: Wie lange dauern die Dreharbeiten für einen solchen Film? Wie oft mussten Bryan und Kaia den Berg runter?
Jonathan: Bryan und ich filmen schon sehr lange gemeinsam, so dass wir ein eingespieltes Team sind. Ein Film wie dieser dauert dennoch eine Weile und nach jeder Sequenz wandert Bryan den Pfad aufs Neue wieder hoch…
André: Was für eine Marke ist das Bike mit dem Bryan unterwegs ist?
Jonathan: Es ist ein Banshee Wildcard.
André: Hattet ihr weiteren Support für dieses Video?
Jonathan: Ich mountainbike seit 6 Jahren und werde inzwischen von West Point Cycles gesponsort.
André. Was für eine Kamera habt ihr für den Dreh eingesetzt?
Jonathan: Die Kamera ist eine Canon 60D.

Der Biker
Bryan Gregory
Bryan Gregory stieg mit 11Jahren aufs Mountain Bike. In den vergangenen sieben Jahren probierte er diverse Richtungen vom mountainbiken.
Von „normalen“ Pfaden (ca.30-60 cm breit und bergab) und querfeldein zum dirt jumping (Mit einem Dirtbike (Mountainbike) über Lehmhügel springen, mit dem Ziel in der Luft einen Trick zu machen) bis hin zum Downhill hat seine Erfahrung ihm geholfen einen einzigartig schnellen, flüssigen und präzisen Fahrstil zu entwickeln.
Obwohl er normalerweise vor der Kamera ist, arbeitet Bryan gemeinsam mit dem Rest der Gruppe an den Ideen für kommende Filme und an den Visionen von Foxwood Films.
Der Hund
Border Collie Kaia
Kaia ist ein zwei Jahre alter Border Collie, der ständige und treue Begleiter von Bryan. Border Collies sind hoch intelligent und sensibel.
Sie wollen stets beschäftigt werden und benötigen eine Aufgabe, daher finden häufig Verwendung als Rettungshund oder Hütehund. Wie viel Spaß es Kaia bringt, mit Bryan Berge hinunter zu sausen, ist in dem gesamten Video zu sehen.
Der Filmer
Jonathan interessiert sich schon viel länger für das Filmen, seit Herbst 2011 produziert er Videos unter dem Namen „Foxwood Films“. Er macht seit 2Jahren qualitativ hochwertige Filme und war sogar international recht erfolgreich damit.
Jonathan gewann mit seinen Filmen Preise auf lokalen Festivals, dem British Columbia Student Film Festival und kürzlich sogar in New York.
Das Mountainbiken brachte ihn zur Filmindustrie, angefangen hatte es für Jonathan mit Inspirationen aus den „Collective films“,“the life cycle“ und natürlich der Liebe zum Fahren auf 2 Rädern.

Downhill mountainbiking with Kaia
Some days ago I saw a film by Foxwwod Films. Its name was simply “Bryan and Kaia”. The video is awesome and simply harmonious, it shows pure energy. One can see how much fun both performers have racing together. I was so fascinated I didn´t just wanted to put the film online. I wanted to know more: Who is behind this video, what kind of reckless dog accompanies its racy owner… So, I wrote Foxwood Films and a couple hours late I got info from Jonathan Kang, the producer of the video. He answered willingly all my questions!

Andre: Hi Jonathan, what a great video
Jonathan: Hi Andre, thanks for watching. We are happy you like it.
Andre: Where did you shoot the film?
Jonathan: The film was shot in the forest of Bert Flynn Park in Port Moody, B.C. Canada.
Andre: The dog is just like a rocket! Did Kaia know what to do from the beginning or was she trained to run in front of the bike?
Jonathan: Kaia needed to be trained and had to learn how to perform. But after some downhill sessions she knew what to do and there was no holding her back, as you can well see in the video. Her traction is even better than Bryan´s.
Andre: Bryan is pretty racy! How long has he been mountainbiking?
Jonathan: Bryan started roughly seven years ago and is riding for Kinetik Cycles.
Andre: How much time does it take to shoot a video like this?
Jonathan: Bryan and I have been filming together since the age of 13. Still, to film a video of this kind does take some time and Bryan has to hike back up the trail after each shot…
Andre: What is the bike´s brand Bryan rides?
Jonathan: The bike is a Banshee Wildcard.
Andre: Did you have further support for this video?
Jonathan: I am riding for 6years now and am sponsored by West Point Cycles.
Andre: What kind of camera did you use?

The Biker
Ever since he was eleven Bryan is riding Mountainbike. During the last years he practised different styles from trails to cross country, over dirt jumping to finally downhill. His experience made him a fast, reckless but precise Biker. He is usually found in front of the camera but still works with the rest of the group on the ideas of new videos and to build up the visions of Foxwood Films.
The dog
The 2year old Border Collie, Kaia is a true and steady companion to Bryan. This breed is very intelligent and sensitive, they need to be challenged and occupied all the time. They are commonly used as rescue or herding dogs. How much Kaia loves to race downhill with Bryan is shown in the video.
The filmer
Jonathan takes interest in filming far longer than producing videos under the name of Foxwood Films, which he does since fall 2011. During the last years he produced quality films pretty successfully and even internationally won awards. Not to mention the prices won on local film festivals, the British Columbia Student Film Festival and even in New York. His passion for bike riding and the inspiration from Collective films and the live cycle gave him the inspiration to shoot, edit, manage and create films.
